Engineers use Stratasys rapid prototyping systems to speed up the review, approval and manufacturing of their design ideas. To turn CAD files into 3D models, Stratasys uses a patented technology called Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). This technology allows the use of non-toxic plastics and other materials to build strong and durable, fully functional prototypes. Stratasys systems can be used in any office environment without special venting or facility requirements.

Dinner selection is the individual's responsibility. Dinners range from ~ $5.00 up.

Seniors Menu available.

The Senior Chapter 173 will be presenting the $250 "Bert A. Straub Memorial Scholarship" to the finest overall student in the Student Chapter.

Prof. Ron says:

WE WON FIRST PLACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
got the monkey off our back.
Pierce College is the only school to participate in every single
CAD/CAM Robotics Challenge (former name) <==> Manufacturing Challenge Contest
since Dr. Eric Pitts first started the whole thing!
Maybe Pierce should get a "Lifetime Achievements Award"

SolidWorks Office Professional combines the power of SolidWorks Office, the complete 3D CAD solution, with PDMWorks, easy-to-set-up-and-use product data management software for workgroups. SolidWorks Office Professional includes:

SolidWorks 3D Modeling Software - Perform product design work more quickly and accurately with SolidWorks, the standard in 3D modeling software. SolidWorks offers the most time-saving capabilities of any product design software available.

PDMWorks - Minimize errors and duplicated efforts by capturing file revision histories automatically. Access desired files, determine who has worked on them, and see exactly when changes were made.

Orange Coast Chapter 233

The Technical Presentation is on Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), certainly a potent enabling technology in it's own right, and we are attempting to use this technical presentation as a focal point to gather people from both our own CASA/SME organization and others to network together in an informal "Let's have a beer together" atmosphere of camaraderie.

Our CASA/SME organization supports many outreach programs for Engineering Education from Elementary Schools to Colleges, and we need you to help make this another successful gathering.

Please Come & Bring a Friend!

Thanks -

Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (or MEMS) are micromachines the size of a grain of salt that integrate mechanical elements, sensors, actuators and electronics
on the surfaces of silicon, using integrated circuit fabrication techniques to produce three-dimensional physical structures instead of transistors.
Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems is a NanoTechnology segment area now in it's second decade of commercialization, and is poised for a substantial leap in the development
and miniaturization of capabilities in military and consumer electronics over the next five years.
Some key areas that will see impact are in displays, mass storage, sensing, signal switching and medical devices.
Please join us for both a descriptive overview of MEMS technology and in-depth discussion of Manufacturing challenges that will feature Gary Pangelina of SST International and other industry leaders. Mr. Pangelina will
specifically discuss the implementation of packaging the highly sensitive MEMS devices. This is an opportunity for all CASA, SME and non-members to network and re-connect with each other.
Whether you are part of this industry or not, it will affect you, and the possibilities for innovation are immense. Educating yourself to these new technologies is an opportunity you should not miss!

AIAA San Fernando Valley Revitalization Event
Thursday, May 29, 2003
6:00pm
Radisson Hotel Chatsworth
Speaker: Michael Zyskowski, Microsoft Simulations Product Unit

Michael Zyskowski graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1994 and a Master's degree in the same in 1996. He began work at Boeing Commercial Airplanes that year as a member of the Aerodynamics Stability and Control staff. He worked in Stability & Control Product Development, Stability and Control Accident Investigation, and Aerodynamics High Lift Development before leaving for Microsoft Flight Simulator in 2000. He has been there since, responsible for the development of the core simulation engine and the aircraft flight models that are included in the Flight Simulator products.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is the most popular flight simulation software in the world today, used in settings from family dens to military training facilities. Certificated pilots use it to stay current, and teenagers use it to shoot down the bad guys and avoid homework for another night. The most recent release of this versatile software includes real-time interactive Air Traffic Control and stunning visual effects. The user can fly anything from a Boeing 747-400 to a Bell Jet Ranger to a Lake Amphibian. Its sister product, Combat Flight Simulator, is a realistic WWII aerial experience, complete with fighter aircraft and ground targets.  But what goes into the making of such software?  This presentation will discuss the history and current capabilities of Flight Simulator and delve into the technical aspects of the flight dynamics, ground reaction, propulsion, and systems modeling. Damage modeling for Combat Flight Simulator will also be
discussed.

Meeting will be held
